Afloat repairs undertaken at sea

In order to expedite the completion of quick repairs and prevent the high cost of dry docking a vessel for minor maintenance and repair,
W. A Tucker undertakes a host of services traditionally carried out by Dry Docking – to be completed while the vessel is still afloat.

High pressure water-jetting and cleaning

Involves the removal of rust, crustaceans and other marine life off the exterior of the vessel utilizing high pressure water hosing.

Sand blasting

A highly effective method of cleaning hardened and dried-on rust and other material off both external and internal surfaces of a vessel. Ideal for prepping for fresh paint or revised cargo standards.

Airless spray painting

High pressure painting utilized to ensure even coverage and quick drying and turn around time. Ideal for vessels due to its quick drying time and easy application.

Overhauling and repair of external components

Involves complete replacement or mechanical repair of external mechanical components such as motors and propellers, in adherence to all industry specifications.

Unshipping of rudders

Removal of damaged or non-functioning rudders for repair and replacement in order to ensure proper handling and control of a vessel.

Checking and correcting of rudders

Technical analysis of rudder performance followed by corrective measures and re-evaluation in order to maintain optimal control of a vessel.

Replacement of Zinc anodes and cathodic protection systems

An effective solution to corrosion, the cathodic protection system utilizes both screw type and welded anodes in order to delay or even prevent corrosion and delay rust formation on each vessel.

Non-destructive methods of testing radiography, Ultrasonic x-rays and magnetic particle surveys

The utilization of a diverse range of techniques designed to assess the integrity of metals, identify weak spots and damage and assess replacement or repair options.

Load line inspections

Inspections carried out during the loading of cargo in order to ensure adherence to the legal limit a ship may be loaded for specific water types and temperatures in order to reach its destination safely.

Safety equipment surveying, maintenance, repair and replacement

The monitoring, replacement and maintenance of fire extinguishers, emergency alert systems, life rafts and escape pods.

Provision of certification and guarantees for all work undertaken

Certification of repairs and overhauling carried out in adherence to naval standards and regulations in order for the vessel to be able to move forward with a route.
